Piano tuning is the adjusting of the musical pitch of the notes on the piano, by adjusting the tension of the piano’s strings, in order to achieve its optimal sound.
We recommend at least every six to twelve months to keep the piano sounding good and working properly. This is especially important the first few years of a piano’s life and when environmental conditions change.
Generally, a piano needs to be examined in order to determine if it needs a pitch raise. If the piano hasn’t been tuned for over a year or two, there is a good chance it will need a pitch rase. Once the pitch of a piano falls below 10%, the strings will require moderate to extreme stretching. This makes the string unstable and requires more work to stabilize and fine tune the piano.
If you are unsure of what your piano needs, the first thing we would advise you to do is give us a call and explain your piano's condition as best you can. More than likely we can tell over the phone whether or not your piano will need a repair or complete rebuilding. If further examination is needed, we are happy to come out and take a look at your piano. We will then provide you with a very detailed and informative estimate that will help you discover the best course of action for your piano.
